Aims, Vision and Values

Earlham is a primary school in the heart of the community that focusses on raising aspirations and transforming lives. We care about each other and the world. We think what we do is pretty exceptional!

Earlham Vision

Our shared vision is that we believe that all children have the right to:

  • The very best education.
  • Achieve their full potential so that they can flourish in the world.
  • Equal opportunities in all aspects of school life regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religion or any other factor.
  • Be safe at all times – the well-being of the students and staff is of paramount importance at Earlham.
  • Thrive, learn and grow in a nurturing school environment.
  • A curriculum that provides them with a love for lifelong learning – giving them the knowledge and skills to engage with and communicate about the world beyond their lived experience, and to think analytically and critically about the world around them.
  • Be respected and learn about the values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.

How do we achieve this?

  • We have high expectations of all our pupils regarding their learning, behaviour and in how they treat others.
  • We allow pupils to discover that they are capable of more than even they themselves thought, and that success can be for everyone.
  • We look to the future without forgetting to enjoy the successes and experiences of today.

At Earlham, we use BEAR values to guide everything we do, with our Learning, our Self, our School and Others.

Brave

We speak up when we see things that are not fair. We are honest and open with our feelings and emotions. We do not place limits on ourselves.

Empathetic

We are kind and caring. We listen to other people, care about them and the world, and help where we can. We are reflective and have pride in who we are and what we do.

Aspirational

We are resilient and work hard to achieve our goals and dreams. We are dedicated to lifelong learning and enjoy new challenges.

Respectful

We are proud of ourselves and our school culture where everyone is welcome and included. We celebrate our differences and see it as a strength.

Equal Opportunities

At Earlham Primary School, all children have the right to equal opportunities in all aspects of school life regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religion or any other factor. We actively oppose discrimination and stereotyping of all kinds and aim for all our children to develop a sense of respect for others.

Safeguarding

Earlham Primary School takes the safety of every child very seriously. We have a safeguarding team who value the emotional and social development of each child. We promote pupil voice throughout the school, helping children take care of themselves and each other to ensure that they thrive within our school community.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to provide our pupils with the foundations of a love of lifelong learning, to give them ‘powerful’ knowledge which enables them to engage with and communicate about the world beyond their lived experience, and to think analytically and critically about the world around them.

Our British Values

and Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Education

Running through our curriculum are the British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs. We teach these across our whole curriculum, not just through our PSHE lessons. More importantly, we model this in our behaviour and attitudes to each other, adults and children alike.
Our spiritual, moral, social and cultural learning is integral to all our curriculum. At Earlham, we:

  • explore beliefs and experiences
  • respect faiths, feelings and values
  • enjoy learning about oneself, others and the surrounding world
  • use imagination and creativity
  • reflect throughout the day.

Pupil Leaders

We place our pupils at the centre of all that we do – they are the reason we are all here! Our pupils are a key part of our leadership team and have a genuine voice in the decisions we take about our school.

Our pupil leaders are involved in a wide range of ways, including as School Council representatives, Language Ambassadors, Sports Ambassadors, Playground Friends, Reading Champions and Pupil Librarians.

Cycles of Success

Are you a past pupil of Earlham who has gone on to do great things, like Mirza, who is studying an Architecture Degree at Cambridge University?

We are so proud of you for embodying our ‘Learning Opens Doors, Learning Changes Lives’ motto and we would love you to get in touch with us so our pupils can be inspired and motivated by your successes.

Drop us an email or call and ask to speak to Ms Robinson.
